In 2017, protectionism is on the rise internationally, adding uncertainties to the world; the economic, environmental, and social sustainability are all facing serious challenges. President Xi Jinping announced in the keynote speech at the 2017 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting that China will firmly promote international cooperation and stimulate a more dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable global governance. The business sector plays an increasingly remarkable role in achieving sustainable and inclusive development through structural reform, improving resource efficiency and regional development, developing characteristic cities and townships, promoting city integration, innovating growth model, and implementing sustainability.

Session 2: Actions in Achieving 2030 Agenda
2016 is the launch year of implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Chinese government has attached great importance to it and officially issued the National Plan on Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in September, 2016, which defined the specific guidance and the pathway of action. Business is the main force in driving sustainable development and the powerhouse for social innovation. It provides with business solutions in key areas including clean energy, green buildings, and urban infrastructure, resource recycling, and green supply chain, which promotes transformational changes. By taking actions towards the 17 SDGs and incorporating sustainability into corporate strategies, culture, and every process of the production and operation activities, business can locate major opportunities.
